About Us

Meet Dr. Regina Jennings, an original member of the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense in Oakland California, now a professor, poet, and author of twenty-five peer-reviewed academic articles and several books that include Malcolm X and the Poetics of Haki Madhubuti, which won an international book award, Poetry and the Black Panther Party: from Ancestral Memory, Morphogenetic Fields to Hip Hop; Panther Poems: Poetry of a Sister Panther, and Blacks in Race Defense: Killers and Cutthroats. Additionally, she is featured in Comrade Sisters: Women in the Black Panther Party edited by Ericka Huggins and Stephen Shames. Teaching in universities and grassroots organizations for more than thirty years, Dr. Regina Jennings has received student accolades, faculty grants, plus literary and community awards. Currently, she is on youtube hosting “Readings with Regina”

The purpose of this website is to share books that Dr. Jennings’ believes all Black people should read and discuss.  Each month a new book will be showcased along with a brief synopsis including its importance to Black empowerment
